Spacer Emergency Hospital & Medical Benefits*

TIC pays in excess of your provincial plan for emergency hospitalization and emergency medical treatment up to $2 million if you are covered by a provincial or territorial health/medical plan; otherwise, coverage is limited to $3,000.

  • Out-of-Pocket Allowance
    While you are in hospital, other insured family members or travelling companions remaining with you will he reimbursed up to $3,000 for reasonable living expenses.
  • Family Transportation
    Upon written recommendation of your attending physician, TIC will pay up to $3,000 to bring a family member or close friend to your bedside.
  • Return of Family Member
    Pays up to $3,000 to return one insured accompanying family member home if you have been returned to Canada by air ambulance.
  • Escort of Insured Children
    TIC. will return your children (up to age 18) home when you have been air evacuated hack to Canada.
  • Return of Vehicle or Watercraft
    If you are disabled due to a covered Injury or Sickness and cannot drive the vehicle used for the journey, [TIC will arrange and pay up to $3,000 to return the vehicle to you. If you are air evacuated, you can return to the location you were transported from.
  • Return of Accompanying Dog or Cat
    Pays up to $300 reimbursement in the event an Insured is hospitalized due to a covered risk for the cost of returning the Insured’s accompanying dog or cat to Canada when necessary.
  • Return of Deceased
    In the event of death due to a covered injury or sickness, reimbursement of up to $10,000 is provided for the homeward carriage of your body or up to $4,000 for the cremation or burial at the place of death.
  • Accidental Dental
    Up to $3,000 is payable for repair or replacement of whole or sound natural teeth caused by an accidental blow to the face.
  • Dental Emergencies
    Benefits will he paid up to $500 for the immediate relief of acute dental pain caused by other than a blow to the face.
  • Air Ambulance
    When assessed as medically transportable, TIC will arrange for emergency air ambulance to a hospital in Canada or the nearest hospital.

*Exclusions – This is a short list of common exclusions. For a complete list, read the Exclusions in the policy

  • An injury or sickness or state of health where the trip is taken to get medical treatment or advice for such injury or sickness.
  • Loss, death or injury, that is contributed to by the use of drugs, alcohol or any other intoxicant.
  • An injury or sickness, or state of health which, prior to the effective date of coverage, was such as to render expected medical treatment or hospitalization.
  • Expenses incurred as a result of pregnancy within 8 weeks of the expected delivery date.
  • Any loss as a result of an injury or a sickness which required any or all of, medical consulta­tion, prescription medication, medical treatment or hospitalization, at any time during the 180 day period immediately preceding the effective date of this policy. This exclusion applies to persons up to age 70 travelling for periods of 36 days or longer arid persons age 71 and over for trips of any duration.
